Biography
Brian Allen, Owner/Audio Engineer
Albert Szent-Gyorgyio once said that "A discovery is an accident meeting a prepared mind." After a ten year career in retail management, and as a gigging musician my mind was prepared for a change. I had a drum set, guitar, a bass, and a keyboard all in one room just waiting to make music. A friend of mine lent me a multi track recorder that he was not using any more and told me I should see what kind of music I could put together. So I downloaded the manual and got to work. I laid down the drum track, and thought, thats cool. After that I put down the bass line, and thought, this is awesome. By the time I laid down the keyboard track I thought, this is going to be my next career! Accident, meet prepared mind.
Since then I have done nothing but dive headfirst into a new and adventurous chapter of life. I attended the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences in Tempe AZ. There I was immersed into a rigorous eight month boot camp of everything audio. From music to post production, commercial production, to live sound, even game audio. It was hard, but it was heaven. After that I returned here to Chicago where I have been hard at work building relationships with some of the best studios Chicago has to offer. I have spent some time now as a freelance audio engineer and now even as a mentor for the Recording Connection Audio Institute.
When it comes to the music industry versatility is a vital part of being successful. I must admit that I am an analog enthusiast, and that I am well trained in the analog domain, it just is not the industry standard anymore. Welcome to the realm of digital. I am well versed in many software programs such as Logic Pro 8, Reason 4.0, and I am a digidesign certified Protools operator. I am also well trained in console operation. I have recorded and mixed on many recording consoles including the Neo-tek Elite, Neve VR, SSL G+, the trident classic, and more. Don't get me wrong, analog is not dead by any means. I have worked on many projects that are a glorious blend of both worlds. Record to tape, then record tape to Protools. It is my goal to build Liquid Vibe as a well versed company that is able to handle any project in any enviroment. Weather it is live or in the studio, analog or digital, Liquid Vibe offers an affordable service with professional results!
